Social Media Policy for Staff (Administrators, Teaching Staff &
Support staff)
Purpose
This policy outlines the guidelines for school staff's use
of social media, ensuring that online interactions are professional,
respectful, and align with the school's values.
Scope
All types of employees, all sorts of communication and all
social media tools (X, WhatsApp, Facebook & Tiktok)
Guidelines
1. Social media presence: present yourself as an individual
not as a representative of the school. Views expressed be owned and you’ll be
held accountable.
2. Usage: for all communications, ONLY handwritten physical
letters will be acceptable. Alternatively you may use the official work emails.
3. Any social media tool will not be used for communication
which is personal, confidential & sensitive.
4. WhatsApp platforms used by staff for school-related matters must be authorized by DAS IT.
5. All AUTHORIZED platforms shall be used for posting key
updates from the school/management and at no time shall we provide a solution
or resolution of matters via the said platform.
6. ONLY authorized personnel shall be in charge of posting
on behalf of the school i.e Head of school & School secretary.
7. Professionalism: Maintain a professional tone, avoid
tribalism, avoiding personal opinions, biases or conflicts of interest. We have
provided a link where all queries like academics, HR matters etc must be
submitted. Desist the urge to send lengthy WhatsApp messages.
8. Confidentiality: Protect confidentiality of school’s data
and avoid sharing personal or sensitive information/pictures.
9. Respect: Treat others with respect and dignity online,
avoid harassment, bullying or discriminatory language.
10. School Brand: Represent the school positively and
accurately, using approved logos, images, and messaging (INCLUDE LOGO WHENEVER IT’S NECESSARY)
11. Usage of social media is banned for all staff during work hours except Head teachers, Secretaries
& Director’s office staff.
Consequences of
Misuse
Misuse of social media may result in:
1. Removal of offending posts, comments, or images and
explosion from the said platform.
2. Call for the appropriate disciplinary Action as guided by
the HR procedures.
